Year of the Dog

//Year of the Dog

It’s the Year of the Dog!
Chinese New Year has a special place in my heart as I lived in Hong Kong for 5 years and experienced at first-hand the wonderful flower markets, family reunions, presents, feasting and fireworks.
2018 is the Year of the Dog. Chinese New Year follows a 12-year cycle that relates each year to a Chinese zodiac animal. Did you know that there is more than one type of ‘Dog’ and that 2018 is an Earth Dog Year? People born in the Year of the Dog, (1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018) have certain traits assigned to them, that might also be found in dogs.
So, do you recognise any of these in your canine companion?
• Dogs will do everything for the person who they think is most important.
• Dogs are loyal and honest.
• They are amiable and kind, cautious and prudent.
• However, Dogs find it difficult to convey their thoughts to others giving the impression that they have a stubborn personality.
• Born with a good nature, Dogs are always ready to help others.
My dog Maisie is a wonderful companion and yes, I do think she is loyal and will do anything for the person who is most important, but that person is the one holding the ball or treat! Maisie was born with a good nature but it has been up to me as an owner to make the most of this. I see through Folly, Katie’s ‘Canine Partner’ how dogs are ready to help others.
If we look at the traits we ascribe to our wonderful canine companions we see how much they deserve the very best we can offer in return.
In this ‘Year of the Dog’ book your dog into the spa for a regular groom, no restraints!
